Places for inspiration in 2016

Since we’re moving into a new year and taking off for holidays, we decided to look back on places that inspired the Crown team in twenty sixteen from around the globe.

337c215c-3783-4d6b-abd0-7f277382c9cfJapan seemed like the place to be mid year when two of our senior stylists, Paolo and Sophie, went on separate adventures to Japan’s quirky cities and surrounds.

Sophie ticked a must off her stylist bucket list when she visited the Y.S Park store in Tokyo and walked out with a set of pink hair tools.

They are creative with hair in ways I don’t think we do here whether it was doing something extremely blunt and bold or perming which is something that’s been out of fashion in western culture for a long time”.

Paris was one of Kathy’s favourite destinations this year. “I love Paris. It’s one of my favourite places in the world. There’s an effortless beauty that percolates through the city and its people.

The French have an incredible relationship with ‘what’s natural’ and natural ingredients which fascinates me. They really are the ones to be taking notice of when it comes to natural kinds of products”.

Melbourne. Already a great town to visit but given our commitment to keeping up with industry best practice this city was a highlight destination with Hair Expo 2016. Along with meeting up with other creative minds in our business we got to see amazing work from the likes of internationally acclaimed colourists, Guy Tang and Rebecca Taylor.

“It was great to see them together because they’re really good colourists who know their stuff but they are also excellent educators that work so well together as one peer to another”.

Mia WasinkowskaSydney. Our home town is naturally a great source of inspiration for us. We are so lucky to be connected to a community of amazing people and in 2016 we got to play and work with some of the best.

The July edition of Vogue Australia featuring Mia Wasikowska was a perfect example of a brilliant creative collaboration.

Bali. While we do love to work hard and play hard sometimes the best source of inspiration comes from simply lying about and daydreaming.

Hope you enjoyed hearing about our little escapes and get to enjoy some of your own. Happy holidays.
